Japan — Still the Most Exotic

As we finish our tour of Asia, I would still say that Japan is the most different and unique place we visited. So much so, that it’s kind of hard to weave a real narrative around it. Of course, we’ll do a food post eventually, and some city-specific posts. But to sum up Japan as a whole, how about a medley of some of the neat and quirky things that stood out to us during the trip.

Poop museums

Queueing at all train platforms

Cozy subways

7 year olds walking to school alone

Sky lasers!

Everything vending machines

Vended premium cooked steak? Why not?

Great for the blind —

Restaurant displays with resin food sculptures instead of pictures

So of course Masha and Alya made some

Impomptu haiku

All kinds of toilet weirdness

Why do we need to see the water filling the tank? who knows

The love of all things gelatinous

Costume karaoke

Trash trucks play ice cream truck music!

Crazy fast trains

Strutting in rented traditional outfits
